Cambridge Further Mathematics 9231
Cambridge International AS and A Level Mathematics 9231 is designed for students aged 16-19 who are looking to deepen their understanding of mathematics beyond the core concepts covered in the Cambridge 9709 Mathematics course. This advanced program is ideal for students who have a strong foundation in mathematics and are considering further studies in mathematics, engineering, physics, or other related fields at the university level. The 9231 course builds on prior knowledge and challenges students with complex mathematical theories and applications.
Structure
There are four components that can be combined in specific ways (please see below):
Paper 1: Further Pure Mathematics 1
Paper 2: Further Pure Mathematics 2
Paper 3: Further Mechanics
Paper 4: Further Probability & Statistics
Students will take their examinations at the end of both AS Level and A.
For the AS Level Further Mathematics, candidates are required to take two written papers:

Further Pure Mathematics 1 and Further Mechanics (Paper 1 and Paper 3), or
-
Further Pure Mathematics 1 and Further Probability & Statistics (Paper 1 and Paper 4).
For the A Level Further Mathematics, candidates must complete the remaining two papers:

Paper 2: Further Pure Mathematics 2, and
-
Either Paper 3: Further Mechanics or Paper 4: Further Probability & Statistics, depending on their AS Level choices.

Assessment Structure
The assessment structure for Cambridge International AS and A Level Mathematics 9231 involves written examinations for each of the four components. Students will take their examinations at the end of both the AS Level and A Level years.
